Love the idea of a local podcast!! It would be so cool to hear opinions on all this local stuff that you don't read about in other media. Things that are important but aren't necessarily "news." Would you interview people?
Yeah, I think the hope would be to just have some of the "conversations" I typically have in the newsletter but out in the open. I've got a few folks in mind, specifically around the urban planning stuff.
I am definitely interested in your podcast idea! I share your urban planning and design mania, in my case from a cultural heritage concern and always enjoy your comments. I'm new to PG and you've helped me sort of figure the place out...
Thanks, Ayesha! A) Welcome to PG! and B) I think that lens would be ripe for a podcast conversation so you may hear from me on that one if you're interested!
Woah, consider me star struck for getting a shout out! Always neat to get a peak behind the curtain. I think longer form video content is a fun way to diversify, and I'd love to hear more from people making a positive impact on PG!
I just listened/watched your Wall of Fame video - the sound was very fuzzy. Not my laptop or my ears (just got them checked). I do enjoy your newsletter
It came through on my Macbook loud and clear, using the Substack browser. I think about going to the Wall of Fame regularly, as I have never been, but I also think about the line ups that people talk about. LOL
I need to go for an off-hour lunch and hopefully hit a shorter line. :)
You and your newsletter definitely have me thinking about urban planning more and more, Darren. I spent 8 days in Kamloops for work recently and after trying to navigate that city, both by vehicle and on foot (I stayed in the newer hotel area off Pacific Way), and also trying to get over to Tranquille and Cooney Bay on my last day to check out those spots, I think I can say with some authority that Kamloops is worse than PG for planning for increased density and transportation.
I welcome a video podcast on local topics like urban planning, livability, local politics, and overall northern living!
Hello!! 1) that is indeed a great logo - idk if I've seen it before! I always come into the newsletter from the email notification. 2) that's also a great video about Wall of Fame - I like how fun and chill yet energetic it is! Can confirm the food is amazing (and they have a Cubano sandwich, which I lobbied Salted Cracker to bring back after it's early menu appearance, to no avail). 3) another YES PLS for the video podcast :D 4) re: journalism - I'm immensely grateful for Amanda Follett Hosgood at The Tyee, she's the northern reporter: https://thetyee.ca/Bios/Amanda_Follett_Hosgood/

Fun!! This would make for some great engagement and discussion!
I mean, "hear opinions on all this local stuff" apart from what you and Andrew are already doing in these newsletters lol.

Interesting! It plays 100% clear on my phone and my laptop. I'm not sure if it's on substack's end maybe?
